Meet Traveling and Scuba Extraordinaire, Quincy Standa






                                               
Quincy Standa is 20 years old and attends Texas State University. Standa is in the process of majoring in PR with a minor in Biology. During her time after graduating high school, Standa took a year off and traveled to the Bahamas, Malaysia, New Zealand, Indonesia and Australia. She has 5 pets that live with her parents; a corgi-Chihuahua mix, 2 cats, a snake, and a leopard gecko. Standa’s passion for environmental conservation led her to pursue a minor in Biology in order to work with marine biologists that share her enthusiasm for the ecosystem in the future. In her free time, Standa enjoys writing, scuba diving, and furthering her education on the ocean. A fun fact about Standa is that her favorite fish is the damselfish due to its cute size and feisty nature.

Students speak up about sexual assault on campus By Robert Rivera rmr176@txstate.edu SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State students were interviewed on their thoughts/opinions on sexual assault as it relates to the campus environment and college life on Oct. 29 – Nov. 1. The interviews were conducted by Texas State Media Writing students for an assignment that required obtaining direct quotes and opinions from various sources to discuss sexual assault. “(Sexual assault is) sexual acts exercised on involuntary individuals,” said Andrew Samples, a 22-year-old male. The definition of sexual assault expressed by Samples tended to be the general idea held by most students interviewed. Although most students have not personally been a victim to sexual assault, many showed a similar resolve regarding punishments for those who commit the act.
